Facing Race conference in Oakland

Facing Race, a national conference, was held at the Oakland Marriott City Center, Oakland in November.
The conference was organized by the Applied Research Center (ARC), an Oakland based racial justice think-tank.
Speakers included Rinku Sen, president of Applied Research Center and Publisher of ColorLines, Tammy Johnson director of strategic partnerships with ATC. The conference's opening key note speaker was novelist, poet and screenplay writer Sherman Alexie.
The conference brought people of color together to work as a team effort to address the needs of their various communities. It was a display of unity in action. Attendees came throughout the United States displaying a message of change and hope.
